For the POSH Card Swap here is a video of how to make the Fan Easel Card and the die I used to make them.
You will not believe how easy it is!
My battery ran out right at the end so didn't have a chance to say 'thanks for watching' or 'Bye'.
It was to be a swap of Unique Folds. One of my favorite Sizzix dies is the Fan die....just LOVE it!

I had extra Pink Paislee paper that was a pretty teal on one side and a pale yellow on the other and I also cut a doily and glued it only on the sides and bottom. Between the back and the doily I made a little tag for a personal note or just a signature for the person who ends up sending it.

I used my Sizzlet leaves die and a couple other flowers and lightly misted the edge of the doily in a Close To My Heart Cotton Candy Ink pad. I also edged the card in that ink.
Started with Large Tags out of heavy chipboard and used my little Silhouette cutter to cut out A U T U M N, leaves and segmented globes/balls. I added glitter for sparkle on the leaves and tied the banner up with jute and the balls with orangey twine.

I pulled my grandmother's old treadle machine out in front of the fireplace....we are running our AC as Fall is only a HOPE in mid-September. Hubby found the leaves I cut last year to lay on the Thanksgiving buffet and table and he distributed them on the machine and arranged things. I love when he does this, it's so 'us', 'ours' and looking back over the photos is always fun.

And, I wanted to show the banner off to my PEEPS tomorrow when the 4 of us go on a Cropping field trip.

Fall is so fun!

Take a look...

The Closure uses the closure on top of the box.....

It holds together very well! One side of the closure goes on the cover.

The other side of the closure goes on the back.

In a Nut-Shell, here is how I did it....but, experiment and you can make it almost any size! My last notebook was from a TacoBell box and was about 8 inches long and 6 inches tall.

Cut to a size that will slip into your purse, bag, etc. The one above is approx 5x5 inches. Be sure to leave enough room for your binding and closure so they don't cover up the design.

Look at the IN and OUT tabs that form the Closure. Mine is cut 5 inches by 1.5 inches. It is the INy tab and will align with the edge of the notebook. I used my ATG to run a single strip twice along the straight side and did the same with each edge. This left the inside of the tab for the OUTy tab to slip inside it and hold well.

The Outy tab on mine is cut at approx. 2.5 inches x 5 inches. Then make a cut .5 inch from the back strip and in .5 inch. You will now have a single slice and use that as a guide to cut all the way to the other edge of the strip. What you have is a strip .5 inch wide that you will double tape to the outside back of the notebook along the opening edge. AND from there protrudes the rest of the Outy closure that you will score every .25 inch, more or less to your liking. Now the TAB of your back OUTy will slide into your front INy once the book is closed.

My TacoBell notebook has dividers made of Coke and DrPepper boxes and I used a variety of papers. The papers were: Tracking paper, drawing/sketching paper, notebook paper and some pastel copy paper. You can also cut Mixed Media paper wish will give you a few more options depending on your life-style and where your inspiration comes from.

For this notebook, it is simple pastel copy papers hastily cut at 5x5. NOW....when next I do this, I'll cut the paper 4x5 and it will not protrude beyond the edge of the covers. But that is up to you....and also, you may want more papers, a variety of paper, or less, again, up to you. You can make LOTS of these so have fun and don't lock yourself into perfection. You will want to make more so you will have plenty of situations to experiment with as time goes on.

Once you have your papers cut out, determine the size rings you want to use. I had small ones last time and larger ones this time....3rd time's the charm, right? Pull out your Bind-It-All or Cinch and punch your holes, put your binding wires in and you have a notebook!

If this is clear as mud, leave a comment and I will try to clarify.

I just send Hubby to the store with a list I wrote on a page in my notebook. My list for JoAnn's is in there, my packing list for a crop is in there. AND, a Christmas idea list is in there. Instructions for a new album is in there and all this is in my purse when I go out.

I hope you will make one for yourself and more to share with friends. Ok, imagine the cover decorated instead of a cookie box. LOTS of ideas will start flooding your mind when you make one!

Enjoy!
She is marvelously talented and flexible in her approach, no matter what she does the results are AMAZING!

A little background....I asked her to take my sewing machine album, put her artistic talents to work. I sent her a mixed bag of stuff with the instructions to use ANY or NONE of it.

I love her work, her sweet spirit, her kind nature and ANYthing she makes!

I'm thrilled to Introduce: Martica!

Hi my name is Martica I have
been happily married for 31 years and have 2 adult sons and one grandson. I live
in sunny Florida and enjoy the beach and bike riding with hubby. I have always
been creating since I was a child from drawing to crochet and cross stitching. I
started with different mediums but when I tried scrapbooking in 1982 I did it
because my 1st son was born and took 100's of pictures that I had no idea what
to do with them. I used colored pencils and drew my own designs in album. I
continued scrapbooking when my 2nd son was born but I stopped a few years later.
Then my grandson was born in 2005 and I decided to start the hobby again I was
so surprised to see what awesome stuff was out there for scrapbooking that I
dove in heads first. I have not stopped since. I started out doing layouts, then
creating mini albums and now I also alter and do mixed media.
More from Martica:

My favorite style is shabby
chic, vintage and victorien but I do enjoy trying different styles and ideas.
Usually a paperline or a particular color/s inspire me to create. I can be
watching t.v. and suddenly an idea will pop into my head and I would drop
everything and start creating. When I start I have a general idea of what I want
to do, then as I go along ideas will come to me and I continue creating.

I want to thank Melissa for
inviting me to be a guest designer, I am
very honored. She is a very talented artist so when she asked me I could not
believe it. She designed a cool vintage sewing machine chipboard album that is
awesome. I had to give it a try, it was so much fun to alter. It brought back
memories of when my mother would sew for my sisters and I in the 60's. I went
and did a retro theme style on album. I added lots of tags, buttons, trims,
ribbon and even a little fabric, some which were included in kit that Melissa
sent me. I then decided to add a (cigar box) to stand album on, that you have
got to see. I will be posting pictures in my blog, marticadesigns.blogspot.com
and a video in my YT channel soon. Thanks again Melissa and thanks to everyone
for visiting..

Mini Albums. Not teeny minis but smaller in size than the traditional 12 x 12 inches. And fewer pages.

Doesn't sound like a great idea but I know I'm not the only one out there who ends up with a few photos of an event or certain people. For me, it is my Grandmother. I have 6 maybe 7 photos of her and I want to pull her into Center Stage and make a big impact with these few photos! The memories are wonderful and I look around my home and see her furniture and remember so much that I simply can not put her on a 4 page lay-out stuck in an album on a shelf. She deserves better.

Her essences is so important! So, after looking and searching so many sites and not finding what I needed, I designed my own!

It is the cutest Chipboard Mini-Album! It's sweet, shabby chic and VINTAGE!! And I have some new things to add to the kit to make it SEW special! AND, if I need more pages for journaling memories, they are easy to cut out and put in the binder rings.

I bought Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden paper and began designing. Pinks, blues, whites with text, cursive writing, postmarks and ephemera. Then I made a kit! Some of us like kits to guide us and some just want a blank album or the album and the Butterfly Garden paper already cut. Either way, I'll get you what you are looking for!

And, what is UBER exciting is my very favorite You Tuber is going to take the album and finish it HER WAY! I can't wait to see it AND she is going to be right here in August/September to show us her fabulous work and inspire us. I'll post more about it later....I can hardly wait!

Stay cool,
Hubby picked them up and we had lunch, a small gift exchange and pleasant conversation around the fireplace. It felt good, like it should be, like family and love.

Hubby cooked his amazingly tender turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy. Mom brought her squash casserole, corn pudding, cheese sauce and kibi. With a few additions and pies we were stuffed piggies and the food dishes looked barely touched.

MIL raved about my decorating and insisted I open a gallery for my artwork. Are the leaves turning beautiful shades where you live? Our first nice cool morning was Friday and today there was actually frost on the roof tops! So exciting to finally wave those upper 80 temperatures goodbye for a few months! Hubby and I ran errands and ended up at Michael's. We went in for glue and came out with a precious Feather Tree!

We wanted to set up the dining room for Thanksgiving and I am hoping to make a card out of one of the photos to use as invitations/greeting card...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 186px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/TMyzoEyrwxI/AAAAAAAAAY0/IzdM2QoVYQE/s320/tgiv10b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533995543193961234" />

Usually the first table is against the wall and holds desserts and such but Hubby liked the idea of it pulled out into the room.

This is the first year I have used the Fall houses and I love them! There is a church in the center and a house, the others are a cider mill, pumpkin patch and grocery store. I can see where collecting houses can get way out of hand! Who can avoid buying just One More? The mirrors are so very old and weather'd but I love 'em.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 178px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/TMy1N816lfI/AAAAAAAAAY8/RwPfA4T7Ig8/s320/tgiv10d.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533997293406688754" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/TMy1u4Oi1gI/AAAAAAAAAZE/XwmsBEc2gg0/s320/tgiv10.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533997859103495682" />

Here is the house and the church...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/TMy2Iml7t2I/AAAAAAAAAZM/2p03wxMlm0w/s320/tgiv10a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533998301046355810" />

and the Cider Mill and Produce stand...we don't have many of these in Texas but Starbucks has an awesome pumpkin latte. The roads were iced over, the snow was everywhere and Hubby and I decided to go across the road to WalMart for some books or cards to keep us occupied.

There was a steep incline from the parking lot that led directly to the highway...and we couldn't stop. We had a teeny little Mustang, think 4 cylinder. An 18 wheeler was topping the hill headed our way as we slid into the highway...and somehow we missed each other. It was one of those moments you just wonder, then you KNOW that someone bigger than you is looking out for you.

:)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060945849167996226.post-9000269931089392252010-02-11T11:17:00.007-06:002010-06-30T13:44:04.917-05:00In Texas Snow is Beautiful!I know so many people are struggling on airlines trying to get home and many more are begging for it to stop, but I just LOVE it when it snows!

It is the Ultimate Elegance, to blanket the world in sparkly white. Laying it like a blanket to cover the grass and delicately balancing the minute crystals on tree branches bare and darkened by the cold. And the sky. No blue in sight just the palest of gray and white. Who could ever even imagine white shimmering flakes falling from the sky? God did!

Of course I had to nab a few videos, narrated by moi.

From the front porch:

Of course when I open all those windows it will be only to let the light in, not raise the windows. Just as sure, however, that it snows today it could just as well have been a high of 90*. Several years back we had 90* one February afternoon and the grass fires were lighting everywhere...I much prefer the snow!

From the back patio:

Well, there is a large cuppa Spice Chai calling me...hope you are warm and happy.

MelissaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060945849167996226.post-52278177709592119062010-01-31T12:26:00.000-06:002010-02-11T12:52:10.287-06:00JanuaryWe celebrated Christmas and there seemed to be a lot going on. The weather was cold, normal for most of the nation but not for Texas. It gets cold here, no question, but sustained cold for weeks is a bit unusual. We really do run our air conditioner during winter month because we have warm days in winter on and off, so, the sustained cold kept our attention.

Fires in the family room and late into the night...were amazing and beautiful. A celebration all of its own. Blankets and snugglie throws, family time and conversation were more prevalent because we enjoy having a fire in the fire place. It was great for more togetherness and teasing and laughing.

We did notice our little black cat was spending more time upstairs snuggled between the quilts I have on the railing of the loft. Upstairs is warmer and she has always been stiff as she walked. And at night Smudgey would hop up on the bed with me while I read or caught up on email. And I petted her and snuggled her beside me. She was never one to enjoy being held. Only tolerated it. So I didn't pick her up, just gave her time to sit with me and stroke her silky fur.

Then one evening, laughing and carrying on in the kitchen, we saw her going up the stairs. One step. Rest. One step. Rest. It was terribly odd and sudden. Then the next night she attempted to jump up on the kitchen table for a little TLC from her big brother, my older son who never understood why animals can't get on the table.
Well, she couldn't jump and fell back onto the floor.

I picked her up and she had lost half her weight. We were surprised and felt so guilty for not noticing sooner she was so ill.

Long story short, we took both Smudgey and 'little one' (Jordie) to be euthanized. Jordie was Smudgey's sister and was having problems controling her bladder. She had lovingly given Smudgey her spot next to me for comfort that last week...I wonder if Jordie knew Smudg was ill.

George, the part Maine Coon is all we have left. He has stayed by my side like a dog. Main Coons are like that. He doesn't seem to miss his 2 sisters at all. I thought he would be lost having no one to boss around. He has only become more spoiled.

So January marked a bit of sadness. But with so many blessings we have to let go and say good bye and remember well the sweet little cats we adopted 5 years ago.

I miss them. Am happy to have had them. I can't yet remove their photos from my blog, not yet. In time.

Beginnings and Endings are what Life is made of. Time marks our steps and we must graciously accept the Endings as we do the Beginnings.

MelissaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060945849167996226.post-52862880930320834782009-12-02T12:00:00.002-06:002009-12-06T00:03:13.500-06:00First Snow of the Season

It's a habit...I walk out of my bedroom and look out the side window by the front door.
And to my surprise it was snowing! I am told he has 2 PhDs and teaches at two Universities...in between he does what dental surgeons do.

My appointment started by swallowing 2 Atavans. WOW! Reminds me of the Demerol when I had my last son.

My younger son took me to the doctor, thought that was so sweet. I think my older son felt like I was showing favoritism but I told him I still remember when we were at that mall in D.C. and when I tripped he, stood a safe distance away and just let me stumble, wave my arms wildly and flail about, never trying to help me, while a tour bus stopped to watch...thought I'd never find my footing...lol...I'm sure it was quite a sight as son was laughing hysterically when I looked back to where he was standing.

My younger son is BIG and can easily steady me...even though I am quite fluffy. So I chose him.

I don't remember too much about the visit. I remember offering the surgeon an Atavan if he did a good job. He laughed, said he would do a good job without it...lol! Can't believe I did that!

Then I remember being in the waiting room afterward while Carolyn, who is FABULOUS, told me to do this and that, I nodded politely, good grief what was she saying? My son asked a few questions, they chatted and we made it home.

Fortunately, I made half the soup before I left home that afternoon...my older son finished it and made corn bread...he is a sweetheart and will do such things.

Hubby was there when I got home and helped me into my night gown, set me up on the bed and went to get something for me...who knows what it was.

I woke up in the middle of the night sideways in the bed, to my younger son giving me Advil...see how sweet he is?

Next day I asked hubby why he didn't tell me to lay down properly so I wouldn't roll off the bed and hurt myself, he said he knew I wouldn't. Hmmm...or he was hoping to collect my life insurance? LOL!

Younger son asked if hubby had given me my 7:30am meds. No. Apparently he forgot. He's been a little stressed, really, he has. I do call him Butt from time to time...I just can't help it, ya know?

Anyway, went back this past week and am healing well. Have to go back again Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Just to make sure.

And the lady who takes you money is into PINK! She found a sparkly Pink stapler, calculator, tape dispenser...oh, I wanted it so bad!

All in all I am SO glad I wasn't living Way Back When and that I had a very competent surgeon who could get those two teeth out for me...did I tell you the back tooth had three pins from a root canal gone very badly? One of the pins had gone through the tooth and was causing a bit of infection at the base of the tooth.

SO nice not to deal with that anymore!

Hope your teeth are in good shape for Holiday Smiles and photos,
MelissaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060945849167996226.post-50349715275078290982009-10-27T16:05:00.002-06:002009-11-07T16:08:48.712-06:00The Hobbit Foot returnsOk, So I was still bruising everytime I put on shoes...so yesterday I went to see Doc Gorgeous.

He asked what happened and I told him a bottle of beer fell out of the top shelf of the fridge some how and landed on my foot.

He said that is why we buy Light beer. LOL!

Apparently I have no broken bones. May have a broken capillary or two that bleed when locked up in my poorly fitting shoes...ugh! So, now I have to be fitted for new shoes at the New Balance store...or any shoe on that list in my purse. I'm going barefoot again at home and the foot seems to be doing better. My current New Balances are just fine so I am going to give it time to heal up and see how it goes. Mainly cause I want other things right now than new shoes for that foot.

I'm going to see if Santa brings me a pair first, he, of all people, should know if the shoe is properly fitting or not, doncha think?

So that is where we are with the Hobbit foot.

I knew you were wondering. :)

Oh, and tomorrow I get two teeth pulled...should be fun. LOL!

MelissaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060945849167996226.post-5787476847369152932009-10-26T16:21:00.000-06:002009-11-07T16:22:29.569-06:00Fabulous Fun at BFF's HomeLast Friday afternoon I hit the highways and had a lovely drive to my BFF's place.

It was a balmy sunny day, the lakes were lovely, the traffic tame and I arrived at her school just as school was about to let out. I was invited inside to meet 8 sweet children, really, really cute kids. Respectful, smiling, a little glint of fun sparkling in their eyes, it was great!

Then she and I wandered through Brookshire's. She showed me different sauces and food to give my cooking a super charge and then we went home to her place on half an acre.

Once I rolled out of the city there was a peace, an exhale of stress. But nothing can match sitting on the back deck of BFF's home. Never mind when you pull into her driveway the cell phone automatically looses contact, it matters not...the trees in her backyard are tall and the sound of the breeze ruffles the leaves...Peace, pure peace to my heart.

Back inside, we chopped red onions, garlic, roasted corn her Hubby had just taken off the grill (and he chopped the onions so we wouldn't cry...sweet huh?) , rotisserie chicken, fresh green peppers and threw all that into a big saute pan with black beans to simmer. Talk about a fabulous fragrance filling the kitchen!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SvXUkDc9U2I/AAAAAAAAARs/EwwaRebcJTM/s320/ingredientsblog.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401457043967923042" />

While all that simmered, she threw all this in a beautiful bowl.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 192px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SvXX7zpc9FI/AAAAAAAAAR8/8-TT1RTL7jg/s320/sourcreamdip.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401460750577103954" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SvXYNJf_OXI/AAAAAAAAASE/F9zkigLj_-8/s320/sourcreamdip1a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401461048500762994" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 264px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SvXYfHk6CEI/AAAAAAAAASM/EstK4NqXusg/s320/sourcreamdip1b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401461357222168642" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SvXYqS_MSvI/AAAAAAAAASU/fLXwhKH37Lo/s320/sourcreamdip2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401461549263768306" />

Letting that chill, she threw flour tortillas on a baking sheet to crisp in the oven then she added the saute ingredients to each tortilla, topped with an assortment of cheeses and then back into the oven to melt.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 202px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SvXb3IzFVYI/AAAAAAAAASc/rMmDr2vTNwI/s320/quesadillas.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401465068401808770" />

Her older son, her hubby and I were patiently waiting to fill our plates. They are much easier drawn or painted than embroidered...those curlicues get shortened and/or eliminated at will...lol!

Orange isn't my favorite color so I chose to embroider the 8 pumpkins in 4 colors plum, burgundy, dark cinnamon and straight up pumpkin. Two shades of green provide contrast and accents on each piece.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SsaPwGuATKI/AAAAAAAAARk/CZRTPML7AQI/s320/rawpumpkin3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388152060795440290" />

They should look nice on the table runner for Thanksgiving.

Embroidery is very time consuming but should be pretty for years to come and if handled well, an heirloom. Some I love, some were selected for me so I had a nice balance.

This is the weekend for the Texas Quilters Online Retreat. Its our first and like many retreats, we are each working on our own projects and keeping in touch online.

As you can guess, I am making pumpkins: Only three so far but aren't they cute??

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 187px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SrQkpV0bOlI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/WTpEOIvP4wI/s320/punkinsdone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382967747264854610" />

For the biggest one I enlarged the pattern to 125%. The Medium is made per the pattern and the little one is shrunk to 75%. These are perfect Table Top or Buffet top size. I can see these at 200% for a bed or to set on the floor or on the porch.

Also, if you like the look where embroider thread is pulled between the pumpkin sections, this pattern would be so easy to do that way.

Oh, and I just sewed that stem in while I was sewing the sections together. Stuff it first, lay it inside the pumpkin, sew across the top and it will look great when you turn the whole thing inside out!

I hope you hop over and get your copy, I'm making a set for my MIL and her sister and my mom. They are fast to make! I'm addicted and will probably have these little things all over the house!

One more thing...I was inspired by a pumpkin online and I reworked it a bit for embroidery, as I am making the pumpkin embroidery part of a table runner with these same fabrics.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 245px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SrQodN-vsEI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/Psw4nuEVIrc/s320/pumpkinembroidery.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382971937048735810" />

Well, that is what I'm up to this weekend.

Hope your weekend is fresh, cool and fallish!

Have fun,
MelissaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060945849167996226.post-31847556509571365742009-09-10T15:09:00.001-05:002009-09-18T16:36:59.064-05:00Hobbit foot and BeerSo what was I doing all this time?

Well, the AC was fixed that same day, yay! And we are still spinning the thing. Keeps the humidity low when the humidity is high. So we use the AC. Keeps things from warping, getting mildewed, that sort of thing, cause, as my son explained it to me: 100% humidity is not the same as a swimming pool. Ok, now I know. So there, it is a gas rather than a liquid. Fine, make your momma feel 'tupid.

ANYWAY

As luck would have it the MMA fights were on about 3 weeks ago. Have I mentioned I live with males? Come Monday morning I rearrange the fridge and later start cooking dinner. The older male is in the living room requesting salt or pepper along with more iced tea and I am not paying attention and pull the 'whatever it was I needed' out of the fridge only to realize WAY too late that a beer bottle from Saturday night is in a free fall from the top shelf of the fridge all the way down to the foot.

It fell perfectly and caused enough pain that I was going through my 'not nice' vocabulary rather quickly. I am SO glad it didn't break cause I might have stitches that I would want to scratch and clip with the tiny embroidery scissors beside me here.

Are you like me, you ignore the pain, that caution that floats through your head and just keep right on going. Well, Two weekends in a row I did just that. We had some fabulous sales here and I had coupons for LOTS of things so I wasn't letting a little gimp foot me out of the store...for 2.5 hours.

So Monday means the bruise swelled even further than it was, need ice, call Dr. Gorgeous if it doesn't get better and make sure to limp appropriately through the house washing and cooking and be careful, above all!

Next weekend my very very BFF came into town, we had a BLAST! and I stood on the thing looking at fat quarters laughing and chatting it up with other crazy quilt sale ladies at the quilt store. We were there talking walking/standing for maybe an hour and a half. Had a FAB time. Ran next door to our fav Mexican restaurant, sat and filled our plates with salt, chips, salt, cheese dip, salt and guacamole...it was luscious!! And most swell worthy!

Sunday, Hubby is now threating the emergency room. The foot is broken, may need amputating and then what will you do. Hmmm....it did look really bad. And BFF thought perhaps there was an ongoing bleed, small nick (she explained) that bled slowly. OK, thank you all!

I began to wonder what walking on a faux foot would feel like.

So Anti-Inflamatory diet, ICE, sit on bum and hope. I don't mind seeing Doc G but geeze, not surgery and amputation! Monday repeat, Tuesday hobble about with ice, Wednesday more of same...and be SO thankful the foot is close to normal size.

I knew you wanted the details first...now the foot which has been renamed Hobbit by the younger males.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SrP2KPEdzxI/AAAAAAAAAQU/92gnDXQkYng/s320/hobbitfoot.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382916635342262034" />

The little black speck shows the very small space the beer bottle hit when it landed on my foot.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8UnhjwV6k-w/SrP2ePege9I/AAAAAAAAAQc/ff_TtEhxwvc/s320/hobbitfoot2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382916979048872914" />

A very sweet friend in Oklahoma checked with me several times and worried over it. Thank you Joyce, it isn't even hardly green anymore.

Another friend very generously dropped something on her foot in solidarity and I think hers is hurt worse than mine. (((hugs)))

A precious friend in New York asked if the beer was OK. Yes, Terri, the beer survived, thanks for the concern. LOL, love Terri, you'd have to know her. 5 kids, pigs, gardening, moving all over the north east, it will give you a twisted sense of humor, bless her heart.

So, there you have it.

I think what really bothered me most about the whole thing was not being able to stand up long enough to shave my legs and thinking I might have to see another human that way. 'Did you see that fat lady's legs?' I could just hear it...

Well, now you know.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
